The Lab is a short-form channel built on one idea: every sound is a function and every picture is a curve. Each video takes a piece of math or physics and finds the format where it is audible or visible, not explained.
The formats that carried the channel: Buckshot Roulette, but it's math (1.36M views), a game of shells turned into a probability problem; hardstyle kick from functions (1.68M views), a kick drum synthesized from a function rather than sampled; Minesweeper, but it's math (190K); Why are there 12 notes? (75K); and two functions fell in love (69K), where the plot is the relationship between the functions.
The constraint I hold myself to is that the math has to be real: if the title says the sound came from a function, then a function generated the audio, not a sample library. It is a much slower way to make 60 seconds of content, and it is the part that makes the format worth doing at all.
Numbers as of the most recent profile snapshot: 61K followers, 1.9M likes, with a stated goal of 100K followers.
What I'd do differently: lean further into the derivation. Short-form instinct is to bury the math as the payoff of a visual gag, but the format rewards putting the equation in the middle of the frame and trusting the audience to want the reason the trick works.
